Well it has been an interesting year in many respects and as we are nearing the end it’s time to reflect before moving forward. Freelancing alongside working at The Natural History Museum has meant a full and diverse year in respects to photography. My role as a photographer for the museum is always varied but we had one of our biggest projects being replacing Dippy with the Blue Whale. I camped out in the hall soaking up as much knowledge as I could from all the experts documenting this thing getting hoisted into the air with great delicacy, not to mention the whole transformation of the space. With this came events, press, architecture, press, still life, science, editorial, product photography and more, Talk about Jill of all trades, phew! Meanwhile outside the museum I worked on an Oxfam marketing campaign Dressed by The Kids, some behind the scenes stage production work, events at some great venues such as the Design Museum, a journalists wedding at the beautiful St Brides Church Fleet street, a boat ride down the Thames. I have photographed some interesting people including David Attenborough, Sylvia Earl, Sir Norman Foster, Sir Richard Rogers, Leo Villareal and anyone who lets me point a camera in their face! I have had little time to get stuck into some personal work, which I think every photographer should do. But I did get the chance to do some travel work in Croatia and Wales.
2017 is coming to a close with the best way possible by being shortlisted for Pic Fair’s Women behind the lens competition, which is being exhibited now at Guardian house art space.
Bring on the New Year.
