Performing Arts, The Evil Eye & The Walala Greasy Spoon (weekend in pics)

..So the other day I went along to take some pictures for a friends final degree show, which was insanely good, completely spooky, David Lynch Style Catwalk/ Performing arts piece, I loved it! On the way home I popped into the Brighton Fair, which was also completely spooky, the owners seen to have found a new love of smoke machines; is that a new thing? I can’t remember them as a child. However with the bad weather it had a very moody atmosphere and they did not seem happy at me taking pictures, so much so if you look at one of these pics you can see the lady is giving me ‘the evil eye’, I hope I haven’t been cursed! Saturday night I was so pleased to have made it to Camille Walala’s pop up greasy spoon the night was a triumph, seriously put together in a couple of hours and packed out all night. I was shooting a revolving stop frame of the cafe being transformed, here is a still from the however many hundreds of pics it took to make the stop frame> look her up, amazing print work http://www.camillewalala.com/site/

whats it all about? EDL, Gorilla Mask, Soft as Lamb and Ear ache

It’s been a short while since I have updated my blog and to be honest not too much has happened but it’s nice to share!

So Brighton got a rather unwelcome visit from the EDL at the weekend, it was a pleasingly small crowd on their part (still too many) and Brighton was out on mass to tell them they were “outnumbered” and that they were basically “thick!” I did take my camera but was not on a mission to get shots. I have experience with this sort of thing getting tear gassed three times in Rome was warning enough. Being a short ass is also a huge disadvantage in situations like this, I spent most of my time trying to wipe the spit of my face (there was a lot flying around). No I leave this kind of thing to Steve who suddenly turns into GI Joe with his camera when there is a bit of friction. My complete girly side felt extremely worried about the horses, which were getting pushed around all over the place, poor buggers!

I helped Lena out with her end of year Art Promo last week, nothing fancy just a girl in a gorilla mask drinking tea in my room! She told me what it was all about and it was all far to clever to me but I liked the mask! We had lots of fun shooting, and fun for me to shoot at home- so lazy! Oh I love this behind the mask of Milly she has that expression of, “really, you want me to do what?”, ha funny.

i Spent last weekend with the wonderful Miss Lamb and took a few shots all Jubilee style for her gorgeous kids apparel, and a rare shot of the lady herself.  Visit http://www.softaslamb.co.uk/ to see Verity’s super duper designs.

Steve and I had a very poor attempt at some landscape photography the other day, only being poor as we lasted 5 mins before sunshine turned into fist like hail, here is Steve running of, very unhappy bunny.

Day out with Amy and the kids…

Don’t attempt to take photo’s of kids unless your armed with sweets and toys, or a very patient mum! I was so lucky to get the last day of sunshine and some beautiful kids Megan and Harmony to take pictures of, lots of fun was had by all, thanks girls so many lovely photo’s I don’t know which ones to choose so here’s a few xxxxxxx

Modern Modernists Saturday Outing

Its Saturday, it’s Brighton and it’s sunny as hell, so I arranged to meet some Mods on the seafront for some general portraits  (part of a series coming up called ‘folk devils’). We managed to find a small window which wasn’t occupied by another human being, car or rabid dog and shoot ‘as is’. Really nice bunch, Lee Royston said that they had been called the Modern Modernists, not sure what that means myself but the style, music taste and scooters are still the same (with a few upgrades of course).  More pics to come, cheers fellas.

DANCE! That’s what this years about for me. I am embarking on a rather exciting yearlong study into it. Of course I have no actual experience of dance myself apart from the odd Saturday night stumble! I have been to several rehearsals now and absolutely mesmerized by the sheer discipline & physical punishment they go to create such beauty. I have some exciting things planned, which I have to keep hush hush for now, but I will keep you updated

It is freezing and no more so when shooting s summer collection in the middle of the countryside on a roof! However I can’t complain I think it may have been slightly colder for Issadora my trusty model, she is truly hardcore. These little numbers are from Gabrielle Parker.

From the also very cold Salt Ashes shoot I posted earlier (slightly darker side) why do I love shooting outdoors so much?.

NOIR- this is also from last year but wasn’t posted, sometimes its nice to revisit portraits as they change over time as we all do!
