HELLingly

Here are some pics from a recent jaunt to Hellingly mental hospital/asylum. These came about as Felicity had just completed her make up exam and asked me to take some pics and why not it would be a waste after all that work. So after she told me what the model is going to look like I suggested Hellingly, I have thought about going there before but never got round to it. So it was a really grizzly day and we were running very late so we knew we had very little time in there, which I have to say I was quite glad about the place gave me the chills! Once inside we jumped inside a manky damp room filled with peely paint. For those who don’t know me, I have a bit of an unreasonable fear of peely paint, well maybe fear is a bit of a stretch its more of a phobia! This was essentially my peely paint nightmare. So we just stared snapping not having much time. I didn’t really go with a plan just get in snap get out, but within minutes we heard voices. Thankfully it was the human kind!. Out of now where a guard appeared,  Flick spoke  with him while I took pictures, he then started calling someone and within minutes I turned round and there were two other guards armed with camera phones, snapping away looking very bemused and chanting “Gaga ,Gaga, Gaga”, which I assume is in reference to the great Lady G herself, and here are the pics from the day.

Visit to Newhaven

I went to visit Issadora today in her caravan, had chips and a quick walk down the cliff, it felt all very British beach holiday! We took a few snaps on the way.

Pride

Ok so I haven’t got out much this summer for the first time in my life, I must be growing up but it’s a little dull! This is why for the first time in years I decided to go to Pride as it is on my doorstep (be rude not too).  I rocked up for an hour or two to take some snaps before it all got on top!!

Lena

So there are not many people who will get in the sea while chips get thrown at them! This is Lena a performing Arts student who approached me to take some pictures for her. The pictures are to illustrate her idea on ‘making a spectacle’ and’little red riding hood Its actually quite clever but I will leave it to Lena to explain!. Honestly when I asked her to get in the sea and sent her boyfriend to get some chips, there was not even the slightest complaint. Completely different shoot for me but had much fun being all ‘arty’.

My place in the road

I often walk along by the industrial estate in shoram . I really love it there as it slightly freaks me out and reminds me of playing in places like this as a child. There is something a bit chilling about industrial estates when everyone has gone home, I always get a sense I am not entirely alone.

Bluebell woods

The first year I managed to make it to beautiful blubell woods before they all shrivelled up, lucky I had a blue cape on me for Fashy to wonder around in!

Minus a fox..

Alas the fox is pregnant! This is good news of course but left me missing the crucial part of my ‘red family’. I have been planning the fox shoot for a while, but animails and children are quite hard to coordinate it seems. So we decided to go ahead without the fox to do a ‘test shoot’, using the clothes leant to me by Sweedish designers. Ellen told me she wants to be an architect which is amazing for an eleven year old girl, I hope she didn’t get to bored playing model! Claire has just finished filming for the BBC programme Market to High street for her incredible bespoke jewelry. They both had great patience and did a great job.

Thanks to Ben for assisting on this shoot.

Olivia

I took these earlier this year when the weather was horrid. I think I felt quite frustrated at being bound inside by the weather so decided on this very simple, cheeky little shoot with Olivia. There is no real ‘concept’ as such but I had been doing so much fashion and product stuff I felt I needed to break out, get back to grass roots so to speak and add a little humor into to and otherwise dreary day! Olivia didn’t complain once about the crappy weather and smiled like a trooper. I found the amazing swimming cap from Beyond Retro which did set me back £19. Completely useless to me now but I just wanted it so what can you do!

Alternative Fashion Week- 20.04.10

I had a free day Tusday so decided to pop up to the big smoke to catch a bit of Alternative Fashion Week at Spitalfield Market. I arrived to catch the very end of the show, and was greaeted by a sea of photographers with very big lenses and flashes going of everywhere. I knew I didn’t stand a chance getting any pictures of the catwalk with my 50mm lens (all I took with me). This is of course best for closer shots, so I waited by the back stage bit and managed to grab a couple of shots before the other photographers caught on. Seems a nice little show, everyone is friendly and keen to chat might be worth another visit later in the week.
